Nosratollah Moslemian

 Biography

Nosratollah Moslemian is an Iranian painter who is considered one of the leading figures of contemporary Iranian art. His work is characterized by its use of bold colors, geometric shapes, and abstract imagery. Moslemian’s paintings often explore themes of identity, memory, and the human condition.

Moslemian was born in Salmas, Iran, in 1951. He began his studies in art at the University of Tehran, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in painting in 1974. He then went on to earn a master’s degree in painting from the University of Tehran in 1980.

Moslemian’s professional career began in 1977, when he held his first solo exhibition in Tehran. He has since held numerous solo exhibitions in Iran and abroad, including in New York, London, and Berlin. Moslemian’s work is represented in the collections of major museums and galleries around the world, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Louvre Museum in Paris.

Moslemian has won numerous awards for his work, including the Golden Lion Award for Best Painting from the Fajr International Film Festival (1997) and the First Prize from the First International Biennial of Painting of the Islamic World (1999).
